Toastmasters was made for people like Victor Irving Jenkins, DTM. He was already reading the dictionary as a child, and he hasn’t stopped. Victor takes the mission of Toastmasters to heart and has been a fervent acolyte since the late 1990’s. He is an accomplished speaker and is particularly adept at spur-of-the moment oration.
Victor finds leadership to be an appropriate vehicle to connect with other leaders as well as to create and develop them. He believes that “Leaders may indeed be readers, but they are also speakers.” Perhaps this is food for thought. While everyone he meets may not have an interest in Toastmasters, Victor believes they ought to because (as he puts it) “whatever your life is about, Toastmasters can help you with it.”
He is a member of two clubs and serves as VP-Membership in both of them. He is always looking for new members, whether he holds that office or not. He is responsible for introducing many prominent District 39 leaders to Toastmasters. He can always be counted on to assist Toastmasters in virtually any role with great enthusiasm. Victor has served in many offices, in fact, all of them except for District Governor/Director. He enjoys virtual meetings because they allow him to donate more time to Toastmasters. it eliminates drive time and takes away the excuse many give for not joining a club (“I don’t have time”).
Victor is married to Della Jenkins. He is an entrepreneur who keeps active by driving for Door Dash, trading cryptocurrency, and setting aside time for thinking, which is his favorite way to “plant seeds”. There is only one Victor Irving Jenkins. If you’re a Toastmaster, maybe you should get to know him. Thank you, Victor, for your passion for Toastmasters. “39” salutes you!
Ed Johnson, DTM
