The Passing of Frank Taylor

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Frank Taylor – a 55 year Toastmaster

The family invites you to a celebration of life April 20 from 2-4pm at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Frank viewed education and self-improvement as lifelong activities.  He felt that Toastmasters is an excellent venue for building these skills, noting “I learn something every time someone gives a speech”. He felt that “Toastmasters has always been fun; good natured teasing, good, clean wit”

Frank credited Toastmasters for teaching him critical skill sets such as listening.  His career as a Civil Engineer for Nevada Department of Transportation required him to understand complex issues as well as manage speaking opportunities both in and out of the workplace.

Frank was a believer in life-long learning.  ”Even if you are a long term Toastmaster, put yourself into the program. Continue to have fun – you can always improve and Toastmasters can help you with that.”

Frank was a member of Carson Communicators (2131) and Kit Carson Club (2299).  His club members had great respect for his longevity and experience.

Here are some comments from Carson Communicators:

Imagine…Toastmasters is 100 years old this year, and Frank Taylor has been a Toastmaster for more than half of those years!

Although I was at the honoring of Frank Taylor at the Governor’s Mansion some years ago, I now know him much better because he joined our Carson Communicators Club a few years ago – in addition to the Capitol Nevada Club, and his beloved Kit Carson Club.

Frank loves to tease, tell funny stories and jokes. As the oldest members of CCTM club, we teased each other about our ages (He’s younger! Darn it!) and our experiences in Toastmasters.

Oh, how we miss you, Frank Taylor, since your health has prohibited you from attending meetings! We never forget you though. We hold all our memories of your speeches, jokes, stories and valuable advice…close to our hearts. We love you.

Members of Kit Carson Club had this to say about Frank:

I always enjoyed Frank’s contributions to the meetings, not quite the same now that he’s unable to join us.  Such an amazing legacy, committed to our group for almost as long as I’ve been alive!

“Frank Taylor is such a talented and inspiring speaker! I met him last August and his presence in the club built me up. His kind words and articulate evaluations always brought me a sense of pride and I look up to him for his skills and attention to detail. Frank is a wonderful man and his presence is greatly missed at the Kit Carson Club. His speeches inspire me to continue to grow and build my own skills and I am honored to have learned from him. Thank you Frank for the wisdom you have shared with each of us. It has been a blessing to know you and I hope that you know that you impacted my life each and every Tuesday morning. You are an amazing man and you leave behind a legacy of wisdom, knowledge, and respect. I will always hold you in high regard for all you taught me. “
